On Novemeber 30th 1986 the sarcophagus built to contain the exploded reactor No.4 at the Chernobyl Nuclear power plant was sealed shut. Over half a million men, known as the Liquidators, had spent six months in sometimes deadly conditions, building it and securing the surrounding area. The Structure was built with a twenty year lifespan. That 20 years ends on 1st december 2006. OB Films is currently completing post production on a film about the Chernobyl Liquidators and their story, past and present. Told by the people most closley involved with archive footage and evokotive imagery by cameraman Gavin Northover, the film brings their story up to date and considers what has happened to the site that is still the most readioactive place on earth.
